q         Network Administrator / IT Specialist

IT support specialist for the American Airlines Training and Conference Center and Flagship University. The position involved troubleshooting and repair of the local wireless access points and wired network systems as well as end-user computer systems and peripherals. Supported a conference facility which covers 5 acres, several buildings, a 300 seat multi-function, multi-media auditorium, a 180 guest hotel, serving AA employees and outside Conference Center guests. Managed Computer-Based Training server on the local Training Center domain servicing 400+ student workstations. Daily working/extensive knowledge with XP Pro, Vista, Microsoft Office Pro 2007, Microsoft Server 2003, SABRE reservation system and basic knowledge of Mac OS 9 workstation platforms. Perform hardware and software upgrades on network routers and switches as well as corporate maintained PCs. Supported American Airlines Flight Attendant and Ticket Agent training facility as the sole IT administrator/support for the facility. Created and maintained technical documentation used to train new-hires and provides reference for other technicians. q         LAN System Administrator / Project Manager / Systems Engineer

Performed primary duties as internal Network Administrator.  Re-engineered entire company’s LAN.  Upgraded equipment and made system more reliable by rebuilding the servers software and basic LAN architecture.  Performed secondary role as Project Manager/System Engineer for Indovison satellite cable system project.  Setting production schedules and meeting with customer representatives to ensure the project met and accomplished contract agreements.  Spent three weeks in Jakarta, Indonesia managing the installation and testing of the monitor and control system which I designed.  Designed and engineered the wiring system for the system using AutoCAD and wrote extensive technical documentation for the monitor and control system for the Indovision company project.

United States Air Force (USAF)

 November 1996 - November 1997

Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

q         LAN System Administrator / Small Computer Technician

Primary duty as MS Exchange Administrator.  Responsible for reengineering US Air Force’s Automated Distribution Weather Switch office systems from an Ethernet based coaxial cable network to a 10 base-T sub-network on a fiber optic backbone.  Prepared and routed network wiring throughout the building.  Maintained and administered local area network for 50 users; utilizing 4 task-specific servers consisting of 3 Compaq Proliants with RAID storage, and 1 Hewlett Packard Netserver LX PRO with an optical jukebox storage device.  Extensive knowledge of both server and client software packages on Microsoft NT and Windows 95 operating systems, MS Exchange, MS Office 97 Pro, MS Backoffice, UPS management and virus detection software.  Upgraded and maintained client PC hardware and servers.  Provided training on Windows 95 operating system and MS Office applications to end users.  Wrote technical documentation and SOPs for all procedures and responsibilities stated above.

Managed the quality of incoming data, took action to solve data problems throughout the US Air Force’s Automated Weather Network, acted as point of contact with field units from around the world to assist in  resolving problems.  Incoming data was checked by mainframe computer for timeliness and validity of its data.  Determined if incorrect or garbled data could be corrected or made usable.  Monitored performance of the Global Weather Intercept Program (GWIP) circuits.  Maintaining peak performance throughout the GWIP system was a primary task.

q         Weather Specialist

Primary duties were analysis and forecasting of local weather for flight and ground-based training exercises in second largest training site in NATO. Worked closely with various inter-service military and civilian personnel as well as foreign host organizations. Also assisted unit computer technician for the weather station.  Helped plan, install, and administer a local area network in the building where there was none before. Maintained various small computer and mainframe systems which created and disseminated weather charts and observations to worldwide weather units.

Lead inspector and trained newly hired personnel.  Inspected wiring harnesses for F-16 fighter aircraft.  Position required inspection and knowledge of electrical sub-assemblies and trunk-wiring harnesses. Read blueprint schematics, installed contacts and connectors, keyed connectors and applied reference designators.  Tools used include hand crimper, hot air solder guns, hot knives and various pneumatic tools.
