Observing Site

As this image shows, our home is located in the white zone for light pollution. My 6-inch f/8 Dobsonian can only pull in the brightest of objects, maybe giving me a Limiting Magnitude of about 4.0 or 5.0. So far all of the 7.0 mag objects are either not visible at all or are so faint that no detail can be seen at all. This telescope in a dark sky should be giving me a LM of 12.0 to 13.0. This is why I joined the Fort Worth Astronomical Society. They have remote observing sites which membership gives you access to that are way out of the most polluted areas of the DFW Metroplex. I also have a relative who lives two hours SouthWest of Fort Worth outside the pollution zone that I can use occassionally.
